The National Chairman of the Zenith Labour Party, Dan Nwanyanwu, has warned that every vote must count in the upcoming Area Council elections in the Federal Capital Territory. He gave the warning during an interview on Arise Television, stressing that transparency is crucial. He said tensions are rising as alliances shift among candidates ahead of the polls.
Nwanyanwu urged the Independent National Electoral Commission to properly test its result viewing system before election day. According to him, voters in Abuja are independent-minded and cannot be influenced by loud political claims. He noted that local elections often produce surprises because people vote based on community interests.
He also warned politicians against arrogance, saying no candidate should assume victory before results are announced. The party leader stated that some contenders who believe they will dominate everywhere may be shocked by the outcome. He added that recent political developments could affect final results.
Nwanyanwu concluded that democracy depends on fair counting of votes and urged electoral officials to ensure credibility. He insisted that residents want a transparent process and will judge leaders based on performance. He advised all stakeholders to respect the will of the voters once results are declared.
