Ademola Adeleke has approved shorter working hours for civil servants in Osun State to support those observing Ramadan and Lent. The announcement, released in Osogbo, said the temporary adjustment is meant to ease the burden on workers during the fasting season.
The governor’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, confirmed that the directive took effect from February 19, 2026, and will remain until the fasting period ends. Officials explained that the decision forms part of welfare efforts aimed at promoting staff wellbeing and productivity.
According to a circular issued by the Office of the Head of Service and signed by Ayanleye Aina, workers are to close by 2:00 pm from Monday to Thursday and 1:00 pm on Fridays. The directive applies only during the religious observance period.
However, essential workers such as medical personnel are excluded because of the importance of their duties. Government officials and agency heads were instructed to ensure full compliance and proper communication of the new schedule to all staff.
