30 natives killed by terrorists, 707 displaced in Kwara attacks – Plateau council boss

Over 30 indigenes of Riyom Local Government in Plateau State were killed during a terrorist attack on Woro community in Kaiama, Kwara State, on February 3, 2026. The attack also displaced hundreds of residents, mostly from Ganawuri, who were in Kwara for farming and business.

Deputy Chairman Gwong Song disclosed that the violence has left relatives devastated, with the number of displaced persons rising to 707. Some have returned home while others remain stranded in Kwara.

Song said 200 returnees received funds from the council to travel home, staying with relatives rather than in formal IDP camps. The council is planning a special day to honour those who lost their lives in the attack.

Four members are receiving treatment for injuries in Kwara, while about 10 others are still held captive by the terrorists. The council continues to monitor the situation and support affected families.
