Lent, Ramadan: Divine invitation to transcend our differences – Peter Obi

Former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi has called the overlapping Christian Lent and Muslim Ramadan fasting period a divine chance for Nigerians to transcend differences. He described it as a powerful symbol of shared sacrifice and reflection.

Obi noted that both seasons involve fasting, prayer, and thanksgiving, emphasizing that this rare spiritual convergence is more than a coincidence. He called it a “Double Fast” uniting Christians and Muslims in seeking God’s mercy for the nation.

The former presidential candidate urged Nigerians to pair prayer with action, showing charity, forgiveness, and self-discipline. He said the period could serve as a spiritual reset amid the country’s economic and security challenges.

Obi concluded by wishing Nigerians a Holy Lent and Ramadan Kareem, urging that the shared observance inspire peace, unity, and a renewed national spirit across the country.
