Turaki PDP faction officially inaugurates Abia State Caretaker committee

The faction of the Peoples Democratic Party led by Kabiru Tanimu Turaki has inaugurated a caretaker committee to manage party affairs in Abia State. The move is part of efforts to stabilize the party structure amid ongoing internal disputes.

At the inauguration, Southeast Vice Chairman Ali Odefa urged members of the new committee to remain firm and protect the party from forces he claims are trying to weaken it. He noted that legal battles over leadership issues are now before the Court of Appeal, with judgment awaited.

The newly appointed chairman, Ikpegbu Emeka-Yello, described his selection as a call to serve selflessly. He admitted that the party in Abia has faced serious leadership challenges but stressed that reconciliation and rebuilding trust would be his main focus.

However, another faction aligned with Nyesom Wike rejected the committee, calling it illegal. The disagreement highlights deep divisions within the party and suggests that the leadership crisis may continue until a final legal or political resolution is reached.
