The Independent National Electoral Commission has announced that it is fully prepared for the February 21 Area Council elections in the Federal Capital Territory. The commission’s Administrative Secretary for the FCT, Abimbola Oladunjoye, disclosed this during an interview on Arise Television, assuring voters that all necessary arrangements have been completed.
She explained that election officials have finalized key logistics, including staff training, configuration of BVAS machines, and printing of the voter register. According to her, non-sensitive election materials have already been sorted, packaged, and distributed to all Area Councils to ensure smooth operations on election day.
Oladunjoye further revealed that the commission plans to collect sensitive materials from the Central Bank of Nigeria by Thursday. These materials will be transported directly to the councils under secure conditions, a step she described as part of INEC’s standard procedures to guarantee transparency and efficiency.
She emphasized that the commission has carried out virtually every task required for a successful poll and is confident in its level of preparedness. With logistics, personnel, and equipment already in place, INEC says voters can expect a well-organized election as residents head to the polls this weekend.
