The Lagos State Police have launched an investigation into the deaths of two Nollywood crew members at a movie set in Lekki Phase 1 on Saturday, February 14. The deceased, identified as lighting director Ekemini “GeeTee” Imeh and his associate Ayodeji Walter Odediran, were discovered unresponsive inside a vehicle on the premises of a hospital used as the filming location.
A police source explained that the men had arrived early to install lighting equipment and later went to rest in a tinted Nissan vehicle while awaiting further production activities for a movie reportedly directed by former Big Brother Naija housemate Boma. Repeated calls to the crew members went unanswered, and they were only found lifeless after filming wrapped up around 8 p.m.
Eyewitnesses reported that both men were foaming at the mouth, and one had blood stains around the nose and lips. The police have begun reviewing CCTV footage from the location, while the bodies have been taken to a morgue for autopsy and toxicology examinations to determine the cause of death.
SP Abimbola Adebisi, spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, confirmed that the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Panti, Yaba, for a more detailed probe. The incident comes just days after gospel artiste Matthew Ogundele, also known as Segun Praise, and three of his crew were found dead in a Lagos music studio.
