Sanwo-Olu lauds Flutterwave for processing over $50b transactions across 36 nations

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has commended fintech giant Flutterwave for processing more than $50 billion in transactions across 36 countries in just ten years. Speaking at Flutterwave’s 10th-anniversary gala at The Delborough Lagos, Sanwo-Olu emphasised the importance of opportunity and resilience in driving Nigeria’s economic and technological growth. He highlighted the need to empower young Nigerians to achieve global success.

The governor praised Flutterwave’s founder and CEO, Olugbenga Agboola, for revolutionising payment infrastructure and creating a platform that has positioned Nigeria on the global fintech map. Sanwo-Olu also acknowledged contributions of former leaders, including Nigeria’s Olusegun Obasanjo and Sierra Leone’s Ernest Bai Koroma, for laying the foundations that enabled the nation’s technological and economic development.

Attendees at the gala included prominent business and entertainment figures such as Dr. Cosmas Maduka, Ernest Ndukwe, singer Tiwa Savage, and actors Dorathy, Erica, and Omotola Jalade. Sanwo-Olu noted that Lagos is ready to host businesses that drive growth, international partnerships, and innovation.

Concluding his remarks, the governor called for continued investment in education, infrastructure, and opportunities for youth to fully realise their potential. He stressed that supporting innovative ventures like Flutterwave can create global leaders and further strengthen Nigeria’s position in technology and finance.
