The Zamfara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has condemned the reported destruction of billboards displaying images of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Gusau. The party described the act as troubling and warned that such incidents could increase political tension in the state.
In a statement issued by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Yusuf Idris, the APC alleged that the removal and damage of billboards had been ongoing. He claimed that the situation started with what he described as a clampdown on the party’s posters before security agencies were formally notified.
The party further alleged that some individuals were being sponsored to create unrest ahead of upcoming party congresses and the 2027 general elections. According to the statement, suspected thugs attempted to vandalise a billboard bearing images of President Tinubu, Minister of State for Defence Bello Matawalle, and Senator Abdulaziz Yari. The billboard, located near Matawalle’s residence in Gusau, was reportedly protected after security personnel intervened.
The APC has called on security agencies to prevent further destruction of political materials and maintain peace in Zamfara State. The party stressed that it would not tolerate actions capable of escalating political violence and urged all stakeholders to act responsibly.
