Enugu State came together in solemn reflection as the late Okey Ezea was laid to rest in Itchi, Igbo-Eze South Local Government Area. Family members, political associates, and sympathisers gathered to honour the memory of the former lawmaker, whose passing has been described as a great loss to the state.
Among dignitaries present was the Governor of Enugu State, Peter Mbah, accompanied by his deputy and other top government officials. The governor described Ezea as a courageous and principled leader who consistently stood by his beliefs and worked tirelessly for the welfare of his people.
Governor Mbah reflected on the late senator’s legacy, noting that true impact is measured not by how long one lives but by the difference one makes. He praised Ezea’s consistency in aligning his values with his actions, saying his dedication to public service earned him respect across Enugu State.
The burial Mass was presided over by Godfrey Igwebuike Onah, Catholic Bishop of Nsukka Diocese. The ceremony drew prominent figures from across the country, all united in paying tribute to a man remembered for his integrity, service, and strong connection to his community.
