Tension remains high in a community in Kwara State after nine kidnapped victims were reportedly not released despite the payment of a N40 million ransom. Residents say the money was raised to secure the freedom of those abducted, but the victims are still being held by their captors.
Sources within the community disclosed that families contributed funds with the hope of ending the ordeal quickly. However, after the payment was made, the kidnappers allegedly failed to release the remaining hostages, causing fresh fear and uncertainty among relatives.
Community leaders have appealed to security agencies to intensify efforts to rescue the victims safely. They expressed frustration over the continued captivity and called on authorities to take decisive action against criminal groups operating in the area.
The incident has once again highlighted concerns about rising insecurity and kidnapping in parts of the country. Residents are urging the government to strengthen security presence and ensure that communities are better protected from such attacks.
