We will go on strike again if our demands are not met by April – JOHESU

The Joint Health Sector Unions (JOHESU) have warned that they may embark on another nationwide strike if the Federal Government fails to meet their demands by April. The union said it has exercised patience for months but will no longer tolerate delays on issues affecting its members.

JOHESU leaders explained that their demands centre on improved welfare, fair remuneration, and the full implementation of previous agreements reached with the government. According to the union, several promises made to health workers remain unfulfilled, despite repeated engagements with relevant authorities.

The union noted that health workers under JOHESU play a vital role in the healthcare system and deserve proper recognition and treatment. It stressed that continued neglect of their concerns could disrupt healthcare delivery across public hospitals if industrial action resumes.

JOHESU urged the government to act urgently to avoid another strike, warning that the April deadline should be taken seriously. The union said it prefers dialogue but will not hesitate to take action if meaningful progress is not made before the set date.
