N210m photocopier budget: Abia money would’ve disappeared – Ikonne criticises Gov Otti

The immediate-past Executive Secretary of the National Agricultural Land Development Authority, Ikonne, has urged Abians to hold Governor Alex Otti accountable over alleged financial irregularities in the state’s 2026 budget. Ikonne, an All Progressives Congress chieftain in Abia, spoke out on Monday, stressing the need for vigilance in public spending.

The controversy arose when N210 million was reportedly allocated in the budget for a photocopier, sparking public outrage. The Abia State government later clarified that the figure was a “typographical error,” but the incident drew criticism from political observers.

Ikonne criticized the Otti administration, highlighting that a government led by a former banker with extensive financial experience should not make such significant errors. He warned that without public scrutiny, state funds could be quietly misappropriated under the guise of mistakes.

“The Otti administration is fast gaining notoriety for financial inconsistencies, padding, and attempts to siphon public resources,” Ikonne stated. He urged citizens to remain alert and demand accountability to protect the common patrimony of Ndi Abia.
