Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has said that supporters of President Bola Tinubu in Rivers State do not need governors to organize or mobilize backing for the president ahead of 2027. According to him, genuine political support must come from personal conviction, not instructions from political leaders.
Wike made this statement on Saturday during the opening of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors’ office in Port Harcourt. He explained that the group already has strong political figures within its ranks, including senators, members of the National Assembly, state lawmakers, local government chairmen, and party leaders from both the APC and PDP.
The FCT minister stressed that the Renewed Hope Ambassadors are fully capable of operating independently. He noted that their actions are driven by belief in Tinubu’s leadership rather than pressure from governors or external forces. According to Wike, real commitment must be voluntary and not imposed.
He added that the unity displayed by political actors in Rivers State shows a clear and deliberate decision to support the president. Wike said the collective effort reflects the readiness of local leaders to stand behind Tinubu and work actively for his success without waiting for direction from the top.
