Jigawa State Governor, Malam Umar Namadi, has appointed the Emir of Dutse, His Royal Highness Alhaji (Dr) Hamim Muhammad Nuhu Sanusi, as the Amirul Hajj for the 2026 pilgrimage. He will lead the state’s official delegation for the annual Islamic exercise.
The appointment was announced in a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Malam Bala Ibrahim. Alongside the Emir of Dutse, the governor also approved other members of the Amirul Hajj committee, including Malam Umaru Nasarawa, Alhaji Kabiru Ali (Kachallan Dutse), a representative of the Emir of Gumel, and Imam Nura Salisu Abubakar, the Chief Imam of Kazaure Central Mosque.
According to the state government, the selected individuals were chosen based on their experience, integrity, loyalty, and commitment to religious service. Governor Namadi advised the appointees to uphold these values while carrying out their responsibilities, describing the assignment as a major trust on behalf of Jigawa people.
The statement further explained that the Amirul Hajj committee will work closely with the Jigawa State Pilgrims Welfare Board and relevant agencies at both national and international levels to ensure a smooth and well-organised Hajj exercise.
