US support against terror won’t undermine Nigeria’s sovereignty – APC

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has said that cooperation between Nigeria and the United States in the fight against terrorism will not weaken the country’s sovereignty. The party explained that the partnership is carefully coordinated and aimed solely at ending the violence that has claimed thousands of lives across Nigeria.

Speaking on Arise Television, APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, said both governments are already working closely to dismantle terrorist networks operating within Nigeria. He described terrorism as a major cause of pain and suffering, noting that innocent Nigerians continue to be killed without justification.

Morka stressed that President Bola Tinubu is fully committed to using all lawful and available means to defeat terrorists and restore peace. He dismissed fears that US involvement could translate into foreign military occupation, clarifying that Nigeria remains fully involved in all decisions and actions taken.

According to him, concerns about foreign troops usually arise when host countries are excluded from discussions, which he said is not the case here. Morka emphasized that Nigeria and the US are jointly agreeing on every step, with the shared goal of confronting and pushing back those responsible for violence against Nigerians.
