Transfer deadline day: Liverpool, Arsenal confirm signings of Jacquet, Mooney

Liverpool and Arsenal have both announced new additions on transfer deadline day, strengthening their squads with young talents for the future. The two Premier League clubs confirmed the deals on Monday as the winter transfer window officially closed.

Liverpool revealed that defender Jeremy Jacquet has agreed to join the reigning Premier League champions from French Ligue 1 side Stade Rennais. Although the deal has been completed, the 20-year-old will remain with Rennes for the rest of the current season before moving to Anfield in the summer on a long-term contract under manager Arne Slot.

Jacquet has already built valuable experience at the top level, making 18 league appearances for Rennes this season. He is also an established youth international, having earned five caps with the France U21 team, a factor that influenced Liverpool’s decision to secure his signature early.

Arsenal also confirmed a youth signing, announcing that Evan Mooney has joined the club’s academy from Scottish Premiership outfit St Mirren. The 18-year-old impressed in Scotland, recording 23 appearances in all competitions since making his senior debut at the start of the 2024/25 season. Mooney is known for his versatility, capable of operating as an attacking midfielder or leading the line as a centre-forward.
