Transfer: Man Utd confirm deal for Bennett

Manchester United have confirmed the permanent transfer of defender Rhys Bennett to Fleetwood Town. The club made the announcement on Saturday through an official statement on its website, bringing an end to Bennett’s long association with the Old Trafford side.

Bennett spent last season on loan at Fleetwood Town, where he impressed with regular performances in League Two. The 22-year-old featured in 35 league matches, gaining valuable first-team experience and earning the trust of the club, which has now completed his permanent signing.

A product of Manchester United’s academy, Bennett joined the club at Under-10 level and steadily rose through the ranks. He captained United’s FA Youth Cup-winning team in the 2021/22 season and scored in the final against Nottingham Forest at Old Trafford, a moment that highlighted his leadership and commitment.

In bidding him farewell, Manchester United thanked Bennett for his service and wished him success in the next phase of his career. “We will be watching your career with keen eyes,” the club said. The announcement comes just ahead of United’s Premier League match against Fulham on Sunday.
