A suspected phone thief was attacked by a group of youths in the Dorayi area of Kano State after he was accused of trying to steal a woman’s mobile phone. According to residents, the incident happened after the suspect allegedly attempted to snatch the phone, leading to a confrontation that quickly escalated.

Eyewitnesses said the woman was injured during the struggle and was rushed to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Before security operatives could fully take control of the situation, the angry youths reportedly overpowered the suspect and assaulted him. The incident caused panic in the area and disrupted traffic for some time.

A tricycle rider, Abba Tilda, who was at the scene, said the woman was quickly taken away for treatment while the suspect was later taken into custody by security agents. He added that the road was temporarily blocked as people gathered around the scene.

The incident has raised fresh concerns about mob actions in the area, especially following a recent deadly attack in the same Dorayi axis. As at the time of filing this report, the Kano State Police Command had not issued an official statement on the matter.
