No plans to remove Sanusi as Emir of Kano – Gov Yusuf

Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has firmly denied reports suggesting that Emir Muhammadu Sanusi could be removed from the throne. The governor made it clear that there is no plan, discussion, or agreement aimed at unseating the Emir of Kano, describing such claims as false and misleading.

The clarification was given by the Director-General of Media and Publicity to the governor, Sanusi Bature, during an interview with Weekend Trust. He explained that the rumours were fueled by misinformation and spread by people who do not have the best interests of Kano State at heart. According to him, the state government has not taken any step towards changing the current emirate arrangement.

Bature stressed that Emir Sanusi was properly appointed after the repeal of the emirates law and that there is no plan by the executive arm of government to amend the law again. He added that political developments, including Governor Yusuf’s defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC), have no bearing on the status of the Emir.

Reaffirming the government’s position, Bature stated that Emir Sanusi remains the legitimate Emir of Kano and will continue in that role. He urged the public to ignore unfounded speculations, assuring residents that the government is focused on stability, peace, and good governance in the state.
