Former Manchester City midfielder, Michael Brown, has tipped Pep Guardiola’s side to win the Champions League this season. The former Premier League champions secured automatic qualification to the Round of 16 with a convincing 2-0 victory over Galatasaray on Wednesday.

The Etihad Stadium saw goals from Erling Haaland and Ryan Cherki in the first half, giving City a comfortable win and strengthening their position in the competition. Brown highlighted that Manchester City’s squad has grown stronger in the January transfer window.

He specifically mentioned the arrivals of Antoine Semenyo and Marc Guehi, saying their inclusion adds depth and quality to the team. “I think you have to look at Marc Guehi and Antoine Semenyo joining the squad, that’s definitely going to make them stronger,” Brown told BBC Sport.

Brown concluded that with Guardiola’s tactical expertise and the quality of the squad, Manchester City should be considered strong favourites for the Champions League trophy this season.
