The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service has confirmed the successful rescue of an 84-year-old man who fell into a deep well in the Aboru area of Lagos on Tuesday morning.
According to the agency, an emergency call was received at about 10:09 a.m. from No. 35A, Fadeyemi Street, Pipeline area of Aboru, under the Agbado Oke-Odo Local Council Development Area. Firefighters, with support from personnel at the Abesan Fire Station, were immediately deployed and arrived at the scene around 10:20 a.m.
The victim was discovered inside a well estimated to be about 140 feet deep. Emergency responders said initial checks showed that the well was properly covered, raising questions about how the elderly man ended up inside. Fire service officials noted that investigations are ongoing to fully understand the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Firefighters successfully brought the man out safely and handed him over to his family for care and further attention. The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service reiterated its commitment to rapid emergency response and advised residents to promptly contact emergency agencies whenever incidents occur.
