Zamfara APC uncovers fake party membership card

The Zamfara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has raised the alarm over the circulation of a fake party membership card, describing it as a deliberate attempt to tarnish the image of the party. The party said the forged card was designed to mislead the public and discredit the ongoing APC e-registration exercise in the state.

In a statement issued in Gusau on Monday, the APC State Publicity Secretary, Malam Yusuf Idris, revealed that the fake card was manipulated to carry the image of notorious bandit leader Bello Turji, falsely portraying him as a registered APC member. According to Idris, the act was carried out by mischief-makers who are uncomfortable with the smooth and well-coordinated registration process currently underway across Zamfara.

Idris explained that the forgery was easy to detect, noting clear inconsistencies on the card, including an incorrect registration code and date. He stressed that APC membership registration requires a valid National Identification Number (NIN), which the criminal figure in question does not possess. He also pointed out that the registration code used on the fake card belongs to Niger State, not Zamfara, further exposing the ignorance of those behind the forgery.

The APC spokesman disclosed that preliminary investigations have linked the fake card to an individual recently suspended from participating in the e-registration exercise due to alleged misconduct. He added that the matter has been reported to security agencies for proper investigation and prosecution. Idris urged the public to ignore the fake card, assuring that the party remains committed to transparency and credibility in all its activities.
