EPL: Why Arsenal lost 3-2 to Man Utd – Wenger

Legendary former Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger has explained why the Gunners lost 3-2 to Manchester United in Sunday’s Premier League clash. According to Wenger, Arsenal’s strong desire to win the game worked against them and affected their decision-making on the pitch.

Arsenal fought back to make it 2-2 through Mikel Merino, raising hopes of a comeback at the Emirates Stadium. However, substitute Matheus Cunha later scored the decisive goal for Manchester United, handing the Gunners a painful home defeat.

Wenger noted that Arsenal lacked patience in their build-up play, insisting they moved the ball too quickly in key moments. He said the players appeared rushed and failed to control the tempo of the game when it mattered most.

The Frenchman also praised United’s approach, crediting Michael Carrick for setting up his team well. Wenger said United struck the right balance between solid defending and technical quality, which helped them punish Arsenal’s mistakes. Despite the loss, Arsenal remain four points clear at the top of the Premier League table after wins for Manchester City and Aston Villa.
