Arsenal legend Patrick Vieira has criticised the Gunners’ mentality following their 3-2 defeat to Manchester United at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday. The loss marked Arsenal’s first home defeat of the Premier League season and trimmed their lead at the top of the table to just four points.
Speaking on Sky Sports after the match, Vieira said the result raised concerns about the team’s mental strength. According to him, the disappointment was not only about losing the game, but the manner in which Arsenal allowed United to outplay them at crucial moments.
Vieira singled out Bukayo Saka and Leandro Trossard, saying both players failed to create enough danger for the visitors. He noted that Arsenal lacked energy and urgency in attack, stressing that the team needed players willing to take more risks and show leadership on the pitch.
The former midfielder added that Arsenal have the quality to perform better but must express themselves with more confidence. Vieira believes the team needs a strong leader during difficult moments to lift spirits and drive the players forward, describing the overall display as a disappointing one.
