At least six farmers have been killed in a fresh attack by suspected armed bandits in Unguwar Wawa community, Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State. The incident reportedly happened late Friday night and has thrown the rural community into mourning.
According to a report shared on X by conflict and crisis journalist Bakatsine, the attackers invaded the area around 10:00 p.m. The assailants reportedly opened fire on farmers who were working on their farmlands before fleeing the scene, leaving residents shocked and afraid.
The latest attack has deepened fears over the worsening security situation in parts of Niger State, especially in remote farming settlements. Many rural communities have continued to face violent attacks, forcing farmers to abandon their work and threatening food production in the region.
Residents of Unguwar Wawa are now calling on security agencies and government authorities to act quickly to protect lives and property. As of the time of this report, no official statement has been issued by the police or other security agencies regarding the attack.
