The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that the collection of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) for the forthcoming Area Council elections will take place only within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). The commission said the exercise is strictly for eligible voters who registered or updated their details in Abuja.
INEC explained that the decision is to ensure a smooth and well-organised process ahead of the local government elections in the FCT. According to the commission, voters must collect their PVCs in person at designated centres across the six Area Councils, as cards will not be issued outside the territory.
The electoral body urged all affected residents to take advantage of the collection period, stressing that PVCs remain the only valid means of accreditation on election day. INEC also advised voters to verify collection centres and timelines through its official channels to avoid misinformation.
INEC reaffirmed its commitment to conducting free, fair, and credible elections in the FCT and called on political parties, stakeholders, and voters to cooperate fully. The commission added that timely PVC collection is key to boosting participation and ensuring that every eligible voter can exercise their civic right.
