Kajuru kidnapping heart-rending, alarming – Southern Kaduna Christians

The Southern Kaduna Christian Leaders Association (SKCLA) has condemned the abduction of 177 people from Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, describing the incident as painful and deeply troubling. The group said the attack is unprecedented in the area because worshippers from three different Christian denominations were kidnapped on the same day during church services. Church leaders said the development has left families and communities in fear and sorrow.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the chairman of the association, Apostle Dr Emmanuel Nuhu Kure, said the Kajuru incident has added to the growing number of unresolved kidnappings across Southern Kaduna. He noted that communities in Kauru, Kachia, and other vulnerable areas have continued to suffer similar attacks, leaving relatives of victims in prolonged distress. According to him, the situation has become alarming and demands urgent attention.

The Christian leaders called on the Kaduna State Government, security agencies, and relevant authorities to act swiftly to secure the unconditional release of all abducted persons. They also urged the government to take firm steps to end the repeated cases of kidnapping in the region. As part of a spiritual response, the association announced a two-day fasting and prayer programme, anchored on Psalm 57:2–3, for the safe return of all captives.

The fasting exercise will begin on Friday and conclude with special prayers in churches across Southern Kaduna on Sunday. Apostle Kure described the exercise as a united call to God for mercy, protection, and deliverance. He appealed to Christians within and outside the region to join in solidarity, stressing that the church will not remain silent or lose hope. He added that while they trust God for divine intervention, they will continue to demand accountability and concrete action from those responsible for public security.
