Kano Police Arrest Two Human Traffickers, Rescue 13 Teenage Girls

In a significant breakthrough, the Kano State Police have arrested two individuals suspected of human trafficking and rescued thirteen teenage girls. The operation, led by the Kano State Police Command, took place recently and was confirmed by the State Commissioner of Police, CP Salman Dogo Garba, on August 12, 2024.

The rescued girls, who hail from various states across Nigeria, were being transported to Libya by the traffickers. The police intervention not only halted their journey but also dismantled a key human trafficking operation targeting vulnerable young girls.

This successful rescue operation highlights the ongoing efforts of the Kano State Police to combat human trafficking and protect the rights and safety of individuals across the region.

The statement read,

“On 03/08/2024 at about 04:15pm, a team of Policemen attached to Tsanyawa Division while on stop and search operation along Tsanyawa Federal HighWay, Kano intercepted a Golf Wagon Blue in color with Reg no: NSR 169 AJ conveying thirteen (13) female teenagers including the Driver, Shafi’u Salisu, ‘m’, 25 years old of Bachirawa Quarters Kano and one agent Rebecca Adebayo, ‘f’, 22 years old of Kwara State,”
 
“Investigation revealed that the victims were from different States in Nigeria heading to Libya lured and deceived by their respective agents. The case will be transferred to NAPTIP for further investigation.”
