Insecurity major challenge in Nigeria – Makinde

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has said that insecurity remains the biggest challenge facing Nigeria today. He made the statement while speaking on national development, noting that without safety and peace, economic growth and social progress will continue to suffer.

The governor explained that businesses cannot thrive, farmers cannot go to their farms, and investors will stay away when people feel unsafe. He added that insecurity affects education, healthcare, and job creation, making life difficult for ordinary citizens.

Makinde urged the Federal Government and security agencies to strengthen cooperation and intelligence sharing to deal with banditry, kidnapping, and terrorism across the country. He also called for better funding and welfare for security personnel to improve their performance.

He encouraged state governments and communities to support security efforts by sharing information and promoting peace at the local level. According to him, tackling insecurity requires a collective effort from government, security agencies, and citizens.
