Residents of Lugu village in Isa Local Government Area of Sokoto State were left in shock on Wednesday after an attack by bandits reportedly loyal to notorious kingpin, Bello Turji. The armed group stormed the community, killing several villagers and abducting many others in the violent raid.

Eyewitnesses said the bandits arrived in the early hours and opened fire indiscriminately, causing widespread panic. Several homes were reportedly looted, while villagers fled to nearby forests and farmlands to escape the attackers.

Local security operatives were mobilized following the attack, but sources said the bandits had already escaped with the kidnapped victims. The authorities are yet to confirm the exact number of casualties and abductees.

Community leaders and residents have appealed to the state and federal governments to intervene and strengthen security in the area. The incident highlights the continuing threat posed by bandit groups in Sokoto and the need for urgent measures to protect vulnerable communities.
