Super Eagles right-back, Bright Osayi-Samuel, has commended his fellow defenders Calvin Bassey, Semi Ajayi, Bruno Onyemaechi, and himself for their performance during Nigeria’s 2025 AFCON semi-final against Morocco. The Birmingham City star described the Super Eagles’ back-four as “amazing” and praised the team’s defensive effort throughout the match.
Despite Nigeria losing 4-2 on penalties following a 0-0 draw after extra time, Osayi-Samuel expressed pride in the team’s performance under coach Eric Chelle. He noted that the loss on penalties was unfortunate, but such moments often come down to luck.
The defender admitted that the defeat was “very painful” but maintained that the Super Eagles had played well. He highlighted the resilience of the defensive line, saying their effort kept Morocco from scoring during the regular and extra time.
Osayi-Samuel’s comments reflect the overall team spirit and determination shown by the Super Eagles despite falling short of reaching the final. Fans and players alike can take pride in the team’s display as Nigeria now prepares to contest the third-place match in the tournament.
