HCDT: Communities in Eket raise alarm over alleged fraud in EMOIMEE Trust

Several communities in Eket Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State have raised serious concerns over the management of the EMOIMEE Host Community Development Trust (HCDT). They allege that funds meant for community development are being mismanaged or diverted, and are calling for urgent intervention by regulators and relevant authorities.

Community leaders said projects promised under the Trust have either not started or have been abandoned, despite claims that money has been released for them. They insist that the lack of visible development is evidence that something is wrong with the way the Trust is being run.

The affected residents are demanding a transparent audit of the Trust’s finances and clearer communication on how funds are being used. They want those responsible for managing the Trust to publicly account for all money received and spent in the name of the communities.

So far, officials of the EMOIMEE Trust have not formally responded to the allegations. However, the issue has increased tension in the area, with many people warning that continued silence could deepen mistrust and threaten peace between the communities and the Trust managers.
