The Nigeria Police have intercepted a vehicle allegedly loaded with explosives in Daura, the hometown of former President Muhammadu Buhari in Katsina State. The interception followed intelligence reports that a suspicious vehicle was moving into the town, prompting security operatives to quickly respond and stop the vehicle before it could reach populated areas.
Police sources said the driver was arrested on the spot while the vehicle was carefully searched and secured by the bomb disposal unit. The explosives were safely removed to prevent any danger to residents, and the area was temporarily cordoned off as a precautionary measure during the operation.
Authorities described the interception as a major security success, noting that it may have prevented a serious attack or loss of lives. The police said investigations are ongoing to determine where the explosives came from, the intended destination, and whether the suspect is linked to any criminal or extremist network.
Residents of Daura expressed relief following the police action, while security agencies urged the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements or objects. The police reassured citizens that all necessary steps are being taken to strengthen security and ensure the safety of lives and property across the state.
