Release Abubakar Musa or face Nigerians – Atiku tells Tinubu govt

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has called on the Federal Government to immediately release Abubakar Musa, warning that continued detention could anger Nigerians and damage public trust in the government. He said no citizen should be held without proper legal justification in a democratic society.

Atiku criticised what he described as growing intolerance for dissent and freedom of expression, saying that arresting or detaining individuals for their opinions sends a wrong message to the public. He urged the government to respect the rule of law and protect citizens’ constitutional rights.

The former vice president also warned that actions seen as oppressive could worsen political tension and public frustration across the country. He stressed that dialogue and legal processes are better tools for handling disagreements than arrests and intimidation.

Atiku therefore appealed to President Bola Tinubu’s administration to act responsibly by either charging Abubakar Musa in court or releasing him immediately. He said doing the right thing would help restore confidence in governance and strengthen Nigeria’s democratic institutions.
