On Sunday, August 11, a tragic accident occurred on the Enugu-Aba-Port Harcourt Expressway in Abia State, leading to the loss of 11 lives. The accident took place at Umuika Junction, where a commercial bus carrying passengers collided with a stationary truck on the Apu Na Ekpu/Egbelu Mbutu section of the expressway.

Among the victims were two babies, and all 11 passengers died on the spot before any help could arrive. The only survivor of the crash was the driver of the bus, who was reportedly in shock following the incident.
