AFCON: Ndidi reveals only reason Osimhen, Lookman clashed during Nigeria’s 4-0 win

Super Eagles vice-captain Wilfred Ndidi has explained what caused the brief argument between Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman during Nigeria’s 4–0 victory at the Africa Cup of Nations. According to Ndidi, the disagreement was purely about football decisions and not a personal issue.

Ndidi said both players were eager to score and help the team, which led to a moment of frustration when a pass or chance did not go as expected. He described it as a normal situation in competitive football, especially when players are highly motivated and chasing goals for the team.

The midfielder added that the matter was settled immediately on the pitch and did not affect team spirit. He stressed that Osimhen and Lookman remain close teammates who respect each other and are fully focused on Nigeria’s success at the tournament.

Nigeria’s 4–0 win showed the team’s attacking strength and unity, and Ndidi said the squad remains calm and determined as they prepare for the next stage of the competition. He urged fans not to read too much into the brief clash, describing it as a sign of passion rather than conflict.
