Lie low, continue to pray’ – Shehu Sani tells Nigerians in US

Former lawmaker and social commentator, Shehu Sani, has advised Nigerians living in the United States to remain calm, keep a low profile and continue praying amid rising global tensions and uncertainty. His message, shared on social media, has sparked mixed reactions among Nigerians at home and abroad.

Sani said the advice was meant to encourage safety and wisdom, not fear. He urged Nigerians in the diaspora to avoid unnecessary trouble, respect local laws and stay focused on their personal and professional goals while the situation around the world remains unpredictable.

Many Nigerians in the US welcomed the advice, saying it was timely and thoughtful, especially with increasing political, security and social pressures globally. However, others felt the message sounded too cautious and argued that law-abiding citizens have no reason to hide or feel threatened.

Despite the mixed reactions, Sani maintained that his statement was simply a call for vigilance, prayer and responsible conduct. He encouraged Nigerians everywhere to stay hopeful, support one another and trust that peace and stability will prevail.
