Police arrest self-styled prophet over failed December 25 end-of-world prophecy

The police have arrested a self-styled prophet after his prediction that the world would end on December 25 failed to happen. The man had earlier warned his followers and the public that a major disaster would occur on Christmas Day, causing fear and panic in some communities. When nothing happened on the said date, authorities moved in to question and later detain him.

According to police sources, the arrest was made to prevent further public disturbance and misinformation. The prophet is said to have spread the message through sermons and social media, urging people to prepare for the end of the world. Some residents reportedly became anxious and confused because of the claim.

Security officials said spreading false information that can cause fear or unrest is a serious offence. They added that while freedom of religion is respected, it should not be used to mislead the public or cause panic. Investigations are ongoing to determine the full impact of the prophecy and whether any laws were broken.

The police have advised the public to always verify sensitive claims and avoid spreading unconfirmed information. They also urged religious leaders to act responsibly and focus on messages that promote peace, hope, and social stability.
