Kebbi Police Confirm 8 Killed In Shanga Attacks, Launch Manhunt

The Kebbi State Police Command has confirmed that eight people were killed after gunmen carried out attacks on three villages in Shanga Local Government Area of the state. The affected villages are Kaiwa, Gelawu, and Gebbe, where residents were caught by surprise as the attackers struck without warning.

The attacks caused fear and confusion in the communities, forcing many people to run for safety into nearby bushes and neighbouring towns. Police said seven victims died during the attacks, while another later died in the hospital from injuries. One person is still receiving treatment.

The police spokesperson, SP Bashir Usman, said security agencies have launched a full manhunt for the attackers. He explained that patrols and surveillance have been increased across the area to stop further attacks and track those responsible.

Residents described the incident as shocking and said such violence had not happened in the area for many years. Security forces have now been deployed to the affected villages to restore calm, while community members are calling on the government to improve security to prevent future attacks.
