A civil society group has sent a fresh petition to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) asking the agency to investigate former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami. The group said the new petition contains additional information and documents that were not included in earlier complaints.
According to the group, the petition raises questions about how some government decisions and financial matters were handled while Malami was in office. They said their aim is not to attack any individual but to encourage transparency and accountability in public service, especially at the highest levels of government.
The group urged the EFCC to treat the petition seriously and carry out a full and independent investigation. They added that Nigerians deserve to know the truth about how public funds and sensitive government processes are managed, and that the law should apply equally to everyone.
Malami has not publicly responded to the new petition as of the time of this report. However, the group said it is confident that the EFCC will do its job professionally and fairly, adding that the process should be allowed to run its course without political interference.
