Nigerian troops have successfully repelled an attempted attack by Boko Haram fighters on a border community in Adamawa State. The incident happened late in the day when the insurgents tried to enter the town from a nearby bush path, but soldiers stationed in the area responded quickly and forced them to retreat.
Residents said they heard gunshots as the troops engaged the attackers, causing panic for a short time before calm was restored. Security sources confirmed that the military action prevented the insurgents from causing harm to civilians or damaging property in the community.
The operation is part of ongoing efforts by the Armed Forces to secure border areas and protect vulnerable towns from repeated attacks. Military authorities said patrols have been intensified in the region to stop further attempts by insurgent groups to cross into the state.
Community leaders praised the soldiers for their fast response and called for sustained security presence in the area. They said continued cooperation between the military and local residents is key to keeping the community safe from future threats.
