A Nigerian Air Force (NAF) C-130 transport aircraft has safely arrived in Portugal after it was temporarily held in Burkina Faso. The aircraft was on a routine operational and diplomatic mission when authorities in Burkina Faso delayed its movement, leading to concerns back home.
Nigerian and Burkinabe officials reportedly engaged in diplomatic talks to resolve the issue. Following these discussions, the aircraft was cleared to continue its journey, showing the importance of dialogue in settling international misunderstandings.
Military sources confirmed that no crew member was harmed and that all necessary documents were eventually accepted by the Burkinabe authorities. The aircraft then departed Burkina Faso and proceeded directly to Portugal without further disruption.
The development has been welcomed by Nigerian authorities, who described it as a positive outcome for regional cooperation and military diplomacy. They also stressed the need for clearer communication between countries to avoid similar situations in the future.
