COAS assures kinetic, non-kinetic approach to tackle insecurity

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) has assured Nigerians that the military is adopting both forceful and peaceful methods to address the country’s growing insecurity. He explained that while the army remains ready to confront violent groups, it is also working with communities and other agencies to prevent conflicts before they escalate.

According to the army chief, the “kinetic” approach involves direct military action against criminals and insurgents, while the “non-kinetic” strategy focuses on dialogue, intelligence gathering, community trust, and addressing the root causes of violence. He said both approaches are necessary to achieve lasting peace.

He added that the army is strengthening cooperation with local leaders, youth groups and state governments to improve early warning systems and reduce tensions in troubled areas. This, he said, will help security agencies respond faster and more effectively to threats.

The COAS reassured Nigerians that the military is committed to protecting lives and property and will continue to adapt its methods to changing security challenges. He urged citizens to support the armed forces by remaining vigilant and sharing useful information that can help prevent attacks.
