Armed bandits have attacked a town in Katsina State, injuring several residents just days after a peace meeting was held with community leaders. The attack shocked locals who had hoped the dialogue would bring an end to the violence in the area.
Eyewitnesses said the gunmen entered the town suddenly, causing panic and forcing people to run for safety. Some residents were hurt during the incident, while houses and small shops were damaged before the attackers fled.
Community members expressed disappointment, saying the attack showed that the bandits were not sincere about the peace agreement. They called on the government and security agencies to strengthen protection in the area and take firm action against criminal groups.
Security officials have confirmed that investigations are ongoing and that measures are being taken to prevent further attacks. Authorities also urged residents to remain calm, cooperate with security agents and report any suspicious movements in their communities.
