Gov Yahaya sacks four aides over alleged assault on Councillor

Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has removed four of his aides from office following allegations that they were involved in the assault of a local government councillor. The action was taken after reports of the incident surfaced and generated public concern.

The state government said the decision was meant to show that acts of violence, abuse of power and misconduct will not be tolerated, especially by those holding public positions. Officials stressed that the governor remains committed to upholding discipline and the rule of law within his administration.

Investigations into the incident are still ongoing, and the government has assured the public that anyone found guilty will face the full weight of the law. Authorities also encouraged citizens to report misconduct by public office holders instead of resorting to self-help or silence.

Residents and civil society groups have welcomed the governor’s swift response, describing it as a positive step towards accountability. They urged the government to ensure transparency in the investigation and to protect the rights and safety of all political office holders and citizens.
