Makinde worked against Adeleke, will dump PDP after 2027 – Wike’s aide, Olayinka

Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, has described Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde as a serial defector who is likely to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) after the 2027 elections. Olayinka made the claim on social media, citing Makinde’s history of switching parties over the years.

According to Olayinka, Makinde has previously worked against Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State to position himself as the only PDP governor in the South-West region. He alleged that Makinde’s actions were motivated by personal political ambitions rather than party loyalty.

Olayinka recounted Makinde’s past party defections: leaving PDP for ANPP in 2007 after failing to get a senatorial ticket, moving to SDP in 2015 after failing to secure a governorship ticket, and almost leaving PDP in 2019 if he had not secured the governorship nomination. He also noted Makinde joined the PDP G5 Governors in 2023 to ensure his reelection.

The aide concluded that Makinde has never shown loyalty to any party or individual, acting solely in his self-interest. Olayinka mentioned several political figures who, in his view, could confirm Makinde’s opportunistic political behavior.
