Nigerian rapper Oladips has sparked controversy by accusing Grammy-winning artist Wizkid of using his lyrics without permission. According to Oladips, Wizkid sampled a portion of the lyrics from his song Ajala Travel Remix in Wizkid’s recent track MMS, a collaboration with Asake.
Oladips brought attention to the issue by sharing side-by-side screenshots of the lyrics from both songs on his Instagram account. He pointed out the similarities and expressed his frustration with the situation. When a fan suggested that sampling is a normal practice in the music industry, Oladips agreed but emphasized that it should be done with proper acknowledgment and authorization. He wrote, “It’s normal if you acknowledge the source! No be say dem go dey pretend like say dem no know you but come dey bite your lyrics for corner.” In simpler terms, he criticized the practice of using someone else’s work without giving credit.
As of now, Wizkid has not responded to the allegations made by Oladips, leaving fans and followers waiting to see how the situation unfolds. The incident has sparked discussions online about intellectual property rights and the importance of giving credit where it’s due in the music industry.
