Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has apologised to Nigerians after the national team failed to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The Napoli forward said the team understands the pain of missing out and accepts responsibility for the outcome. He admitted that expectations were high and the players feel the disappointment just like the fans.
Osimhen explained that the squad gave everything during the qualifiers but the results did not go their way. According to him, football can be unpredictable, and small moments made a big difference in the campaign. He stressed that the players did not take the opportunity lightly and are deeply hurt by the outcome.
The 25-year-old forward also thanked Nigerians for their constant support, even during difficult moments. He said the encouragement from fans at home and abroad pushed the team to fight till the end. Osimhen promised that the players will learn from the experience and work harder to restore pride to Nigerian football.
Looking ahead, Osimhen urged fans to stay united behind the team. He said the Super Eagles are focused on future competitions and are determined to bounce back stronger. The striker added that the apology is sincere and the team will do everything possible to make Nigerians proud again.
