Kogi Poly sacks lecturer over alleged sexual misconduct

Kogi State Polytechnic has dismissed a lecturer following allegations of sexual misconduct involving a student. The management said the decision was taken after a thorough investigation into the matter, stressing that the institution has zero tolerance for any form of abuse or unethical behaviour.

According to the polytechnic authorities, the lecturer was found guilty after the school’s disciplinary committee reviewed petitions, testimonies, and evidence related to the allegation. The committee reportedly concluded that the lecturer’s actions violated the institution’s code of conduct and academic ethics.

School officials explained that the dismissal was meant to protect students and preserve the integrity of the institution. They added that Kogi Polytechnic remains committed to providing a safe learning environment, where students can pursue their education without fear of harassment or exploitation.

The management also warned staff members to conduct themselves professionally at all times, noting that anyone found guilty of similar acts would face severe consequences. Students were encouraged to report any form of misconduct through official channels, with assurances that such complaints would be handled confidentially and fairly.
